The Fourth Rule to Living a Purple Life:

"The Other P Word"

So far we've been giving you all some of what we like to call "rules to living a purple life", but this time I wanted to share an unofficial rule that we all struggle with from time to time. By now we have all seen the devastation that has taken place in Haiti, and aside from feeling sorrow and sadness for the residence of the country, it made me wonder about the other p word, purpose. We all know that standing out of a crowd is one of the most important rules to living purple, but more than standing out you have to stand for something worth being notice! Doing something for the sake of being different isn't enough. You might wanna ask yourself is what I'm doing going to be worth the possible ridicule, possible failure, or even the possibility of laughter, but when what you do has a purpose that you believe in these questions will almost answer themselves.

The beautiful thing about purpose is that it is self appointed. People will often want to question it, but when you are truly passionate about what it is the purpose will easily show itself. Another wonderful thing about purpose is, not only is it self appointed meaning you yourself know what the purpose for a certain thing is, it also can be given meaning you can also give something a purpose. I awake every morning at 5 a.m. to a job that granted I am blessed to have but let's just say it's not what I pictured myself doing as I roamed the halls of Nansemond River High School, but recently when I realized that this is how I have been able to contribute to a mortgage, drive two vehicles and rip threw H&M ( one of my favorite things to do by the way ) it dawned on me I had given getting up at 5 a.m. a purpose which kinda makes it easier to do. Only you can seek and find this other p word in your day to day tasks as well as in your dreams.

People can question value, credibility, or even your reason but only you know your purpose. That's why it's so important for us to have one! This life of our's is relatively short so I feel it is our duty to scramble to grab hold of something and make it mean something. Of course this won't be as easy as it sounds, people go there whole life searching for it and wondering if they even have one. I for one believe that we all have one, but finding it is up to each of us as individuals. No one can put a purpose on us ( even though our parents sometimes try and give us one) purpose doesn't work that way. If it did how happy would we be living out someone else's purpose for us? As I said in the beginning being different isn't enough, purple is cool but purple purpose is the coolest. Smokey The Bear used to say "only you can prevent forest fires" and I'll say "only you can find your PURPOSE". So my friends find some passion, find some purpose,....find some purple.
